Swee Foong Ng, MD, PhD

Swee Foong Ng, MD, PhD
Dr. Swee was a PhD before an MD. She did her undergraduate and post-graduate studies in Australia and dedicated her time to medical research. She then returned to Malaysia to become a core faculty member to help develop the curriculum in a newly established medical school and taught there as a Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. To round up her education, she went back to medical school at a “ripe old age,” obtaining her MD from the University of Calgary in Alberta Canada.
Dr. Swee believes primary care is the foundation of medicine and trained in Family Medicine at the University Hospitals Case Medical School to provide care for people across ages and generations. While doing so, she noticed that two underserved groups of people were the patients with progressive and end stage illnesses and seniors which inspired her to seek further subspecialty training in Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Dr. Swee has extensive breadth and depth of experience having worked in academia, large health care systems, local and national home-based primary care companies including a stint with the VA. These diverse settings gave her much insight into working with patients and their families from all walks of life. At the end of all these experiences, she returned again and again to a strong calling to work with seniors in home-based primary and palliative care where she could bring healthcare to their doorstep, to their homes.
Dr. Swee feels that allowing her to care for you is an honor and privilege as she is allowed to be part of your life, and this brings much meaning to her being a physician.
